Peanut Butter Recall – When Will It End????

I realize this image is a bit scary but when there is a food recall because of salmonella being found at a food processing facility and there are deaths involved – it is pretty darn scary!!!  The recall list continues to grow and seemingly only contains (albeit many) foods that have peanut butter as an ingredient (this leaves out the proverbial jars of pb, for now at least) and has even expanded to include some pet foods (again!).

The best links that I can find that are up to date are Wegmans and the US Food and Drug Administration which provide links to various food manufacturers who have recalled products.   Like most households with children, peanut butter is a staple in ours, so please be sure to check out the recall lists and stay informed.

Could 2009 be a banner year for food recalls?  God, lets hope not.

  3. I grew up on lots (and lots…) of PB&J sandwiches – and now it’s come to this crisis. It’snot enought that I retire and lose 50% of my 401(k) – but last week when I wanted to stop into the Bella Mia Candy Store on Hertel Avenue – the guy behind the conter tells me that they just tossed AWAY all of their ice cream that contains peanut butter or peanuts. Good Grief! Tossing away ice cream tubs (about 5 gallons each…) into the dumpster in the middle of winter. I had to restrain myself from going around to the back of the building and clmibing into the blue dumpster with a large spoon. It all comes down to self control and appreciating that now old age AND peanut butter can kill you! What’s left in life? Sponge candy? I hope so…there has to be something at the end of the tunnel besides the headlight of an oncoming train…

  4. WTF! It’s the middle of March and I’m still getting notices via email daily, from the FDA on recalled peanut products!!!
These are products produced months ago, and probably consumed weeks ago. I just don’t understand what’s taking so long to track down these products.
Something is seriously wrong with the system.
