Farmers Markets – Orchard Park Gains a Market at Fox Run

Western New York is home to more than 42 farmers markets. Many new markets have come onto to the scene this season and Orchard Park is no exception. The folks at Fox Run, an independent living and assisted living campus on Rt. 20A, saw an opportunity to provide, not only their residents but also the community-at-large, access to fresh, locally grown foods.

Located in the Fox Run campus parking lot, the market opened for business back in May and has been growing in size ever since.  I was given a tour of the market by Fox Run employee and sometime market manager, Carol, who was thrilled to tell me that they are getting interest from new vendors to join the market all the time.

Regular market goers will recognize some of  the farms participating in this market which include Librock Farms who are offering their individual cuts of natural, pasture-raised beef; Weiss Farms, located in Eden, offering a wide variety of fruits and vegetables; Mrowka Farms, from Lockport, have every local fruit available; Peppermint Farms offering their jams, jellies, and herb-infused vinegars; Winter’s Farm offering fresh vegetables; StoneyBrook Kitchen offering artisan breads and fresh prepared foods; and Watt Farms offering their many fresh fruits. The market also includes a community table and has regular cookouts for those who want to stop by for a quick lunch. There are also nursery vendors offering outdoor and indoor plants.

The Farmers Market at Fox Run is conveniently located right off  Rt. 219 at the 20A exit at Fox Run. The market is open every Thursday from 10am-2pm  through the end of October.
